The arc
I started in the mortgage lending industry 25 years ago. Today I am a partner in a boutique mortgage bank based in Carlsbad, California, and I work with a team I believe is among the best in the country. That structure is deliberate.
Before MortgageOne, I spent 12years with one of the nation's largest mortgage lenders. I also worked alongside a commercial bank, helping business owners whose income and financial lives required more judgment than a standard checklist allowed. The same kind of thinking serves veterans, investors, families with recent life changes and borrowers with unusual properties.

Ownership changes the questions
I have sat on both sides of the table.
I have invested in real estate for more than 20 years. My experience includes buying and selling single-family homes, multifamily properties, short-term rentals, beachfront properties, farms and commercial buildings in multiple states.
I have also worked as a preferred lender for investment groups and syndicates across the country. That experience changes the conversation. I look beyond whether a loan can close and ask what the property needs to do, how much liquidity should remain after closing and what risks could change the plan.
Financing is only one piece of a real estate decision. I help clients evaluate creative buying, selling and financing strategies alongside their tax, legal and real estate professionals. The goal is useful advice that supports the person's long-term plan, not simply another transaction.

Life outside lending
I live in Northern California with my wife, Heather, and our three adopted children. Faith is a central part of our life and shapes how we think about work, family and service.
We are involved with several nonprofits locally and one nationally. I have the privilege of serving on boards where I can use what business has taught me to help organizations support women facing crisis pregnancies, families and young men. I also serve as President of NorthState Care Clinic.
Outside work, I enjoy the outdoors. Northern California gives our family plenty of reasons to be outside, slow down and remember what all the planning is meant to protect.

Clarity before a product
We start with income, assets, credit, property, timing and what the decision needs to accomplish. Sometimes the answer is a loan. Sometimes the better answer is to wait, prepare and come back stronger.
Name the hard thing early
If a file has a problem, you should hear it early with a plan attached. When something still needs research, we will tell you what must be verified and what happens next.
