California Dream For All: Program Status and Repayment

Reviewed

Dream For All is CalHFA's shared appreciation assistance program. It is a loan with repayment obligations, not unrestricted free money.

Check the current application status

As checked September 8, 2026, CalHFA says its 2026 application portal closed on March 16 and new applications cannot be started. A past registration window is not an invitation to apply today. Check CalHFA directly for future announcements and existing applicant instructions.

Understand shared appreciation

The program involves repayment of the original assistance plus a share of the home's appreciation when a repayment event occurs. Education, eligibility and program-specific rules matter. Review those terms before comparing it with other assistance options.
